True North Psychotherapy, LLC
Welcome!
Challenges and struggles will inevitably happen in life. I view challenges as opportunities to grow and develop as a person and am passionate about helping those I work with to meet their specific challenges head on.  I have worked with and treated all types of individuals with mental health issues and see people as unique products of their background and environment. I believe strongly in one's ability to make choices in life and affect change. I operate from a Cognitive Behavioral Orientation and regularly incorporate Mindfulness into treatment.  I specialize in treating Obsessive Complusive Disorder, Panic Disorder and Social Phobia along with the vast spectrum of anxiety disorders.

I am the owner and sole clinical provider at True North Psychotherapy, LLC.  I created it in the vision of helping those find the direction in their lives that leads to a meaningful and fulfilling life. Please see the other sections of my website for information about services, payment, personal information and options for contacting me.

I believe that how we think and act greatly affects how we feel.
I am a native New Englander with my roots in Southern Maine.  I grew up in the seacoast of New Hampshire enjoying the ocean, the changing seasons and hiking in the White Mountains.  Growing up my family's passion for travel exposed me to diverse perspectives, values and ways of thinking.  After moving to Maine in high school, I ventured out to the "other" Portland for college, matriculating at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.  My love of New England drove me back east to Boston where I studied at Boston University and received my Masters in Social Work.  Soon after this I moved back to Maine and set firm roots in Portland.

My clinical training and professional experiences have occurred in many different settings including acute residential treatment as McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA, inpatient psychiatric treatment at Walden Behavioral Care in Waltham, MA, student health at Boston University, home and community treatment throughout Southern Maine and outpatient therapy in Brunswick, ME.  Most recently I have been a clinical manager at Maine Behavioral Healthcare and decided to leave the hustle and bustle of a large corporation for the freedom to focus on my passion of working with individuals and families to improve their well-being and satisfaction with their lives.  Overall I have been working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 10 years in Maine.

Currently I live in Cumberland with my wife, son, daughter and one crazy dog.  I am so thrilled to be able to provide the services that I offer and to work with so many wonderful clients! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or requests for services!
